KFC ordered to pay Aus$8 million to a 7- year old Australian customer

Monika Samaan, a seven year old Australian little girl who has suffered by severe brain damage and become paralyzed by several years because of food poisoning after eating a chicken contaminated by salmonella served in a famous food chain KFC Kentucky Fried Chicken was ordered to pay by the said store on the amount of $8 million.

Justice Stephen Rothman said during the trial  that the cause is the "negligence" of one or more employees of KFC in the preparation of the foods.

"We feel deeply for Monika and the Samaan family however we also have a responsibility to defend KFC's reputation as a provider of safe, high quality food," KFC Australia's chief corporate affairs officer Sally Glover said.

The New South Wales Supreme Court ruled in the family's favour a week ago and on Friday ordered KFC to pay the girl Aus$8 million in damages plus legal costs.

It's a sole responsibility of every fast food chain and restaurant to always consider the sanitation in the preparation and serving of their foods to protect the health of their customer and the credibility of their store.
